The Lunar Nodes are mathematical points drawn between the Sun and Moon and are linked to the Eclipse cycles. There is a North Node and South Node, which are always directly opposite each other, creating a powerful axis that becomes highly charged, especially during Eclipse season.
While the Lunar Nodes sound quite technical, they are actually one of the most magical and esoteric components of astrology. The Lunar Nodes can give us whispers of what we did in a past life, what our purpose is in this incarnation, and what lessons we have come to master on a soul level.
On a collective level, the positioning of the Lunar Nodes indicates our evolution as a society and what themes and lessons we are destined to work with.
For the last 18 months, the Lunar Nodes have moved through Taurus and Scorpio, with the North Node falling in Taurus and the South Node falling in Scorpio. This cycle is now preparing to come to an end, as on July 17, 2023, the North Node will move into Aries, and the South Node will move into Libra, setting us up on a new collective journey that will last until January 11th, 2025.
On each Eclipse in these respective signs, the Universe will reveal more of the lessons, gifts, and work the Lunar Nodes have in store for us. Let’s dive a little deeper now and unpack what each of these Nodal placements means-
The North Node in Aries
The North Node in Aries indicates we are all moving towards more independence, taking more action, and being more entrepreneurial when it comes to our endeavors. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and represents the planting of the seed. It’s a highly fertile energy that guides us to create, manifest, and to know we are powerful co-creators of the Universe.
Aries also represents the fearless warrior that can soldier forward courageously and confidently. As the North Node journeys through Aries, we may find ourselves needing to step into warrior mode and source greater courage to face the “battles” that greet us.
Aries can be a very hot and heady energy, so it is likely that we may feel its fiery nature, giving us a boost of courage, but perhaps also a bit of a temper.
On a personal level, the North Node in Aries will be shining a spotlight on where we need to take more courageous action in our lives. We may have to put on our warrior masks and forge ahead to get where we want to be.
On a collective level, having the North Node in Aries can indicate an increased chance of wars and global conflicts. But, it can also see a rise in entrepreneurial projects and more independent thinking that can give rise to new creations.
In fact, on both a collective and personal level, this is a highly creative placement that will create this sense of a new beginning, allowing us to set the tone for the type of planet we wish to inhabit.
The South Node in Libra
The South Node falling in Libra indicates we are now ready to move away from our codependent tendencies. It’s not that we want to completely ignore the power and strength we can achieve by being in partnership with others, but the time has come to create a little more independence.
Libra is connected to justice and fairness, and these qualities may be under the microscope under this placement. On a societal level, we may find ourselves questioning what is fair and what is just. Hopefully this questioning gives rise to a higher level of consciousness around these themes.
The South Node in Libra also indicates a need to prioritize ourselves first. While we don’t want to lose our sense of compassion, “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander”, seems to come to mind here.
The South Node in Libra can also bring up conflicts in relationships that can relate back to a past life or your early childhood years. We may find ourselves doing a deep dive into our past conditioning to see how it may be manifesting in our present day relationships.
As Libra is ruled by Venus, we may also see the beauty industry and reproductive health in the spotlight.
